Description
Our organic frankincense hydrolate for foods comes from the plant with the botanical name Boswellia carterii. In international practice, the product is designated as Frankincense organic hydrolate for food. The raw material is limited to the resin that the tree secretes in its bark. In this genus, the resin canals form a dense network in the inner bark and maintain their highest activity in the zone directly adjoining the cambium. Botanical systematics places the species in the Burseraceae family. The trees grow in Bulgaria and are cultivated according to organic rules that do not allow synthetic agents. Steam distillation links extraction with the purity of the aroma, since it excludes the use of solvents and preserves the volatile fraction of the resin unchanged. The aqueous phase retains mainly the polar oxygen-containing volatile compounds of the resin. It is precisely they that determine the aromatic direction of the liquid and its persistence. The aroma is strong, and its type combines a resinous base with a slightly sweet nuance. The volatile fraction includes pinene, thujene, limonene, myrcene and octyl acetate. The product is a clear liquid with a color between colorless and pale yellow. The faint color is linked to the resinous raw material, because the water carries away mainly colorless compounds, while the heavier colored parts remain in the original resin. The composition is entirely organic, and preservatives and colorants are kept out of it. In addition, the organic cultivation regime and the raw material limited to the resin form a simple composition of plant volatile substances and pure water. The combination of a strong scent, a clear liquid form and a simple plant composition defines the appearance of frankincense hydrolate.
